Edit the host file on Mac OS X Leopard

  • Open Terminal. (Spotlight will find it fast.)
  • Open the host file: $ sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
  • Edit and save with Ctrl+o
  • Close with Ctrl+x
  • Flush the DNS cache: $ dscacheutil -flushcache
